เมื่อวันที่ ๘ กันยายน ๒๕๖๖ นายธานี แสงรัตน์ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงวอชิงตัน และคณะ รวมทั้งนาย Chris Kalnin ตำแหน่ง Chief Executive Officer ของ BKV Corporation ได้เข้าพบนาย Jared Polis ผู้ว่าการรัฐโคโลราโด ในโอกาสที่เดินทางเยือนรัฐโคโลราโดอย่างเป็นทางการ และเข้าร่วมการประชุมนักวิชาชีพไทยในสหรัฐอเมริกา ประจำปี ๒๕๖๖
เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้ย้ำถึงความสำคัญของรัฐโคโลราโดในฐานะฐานการลงทุนด้านพลังงานที่สำคัญของบริษัทไทย และความประสงค์ของไทยที่จะร่วมมือกับรัฐโคโลราโดในการพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีการดักจับและกักเก็บคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์เพื่อผลักดันให้ประเทศไทยสามารถบรรลุเป้าหมายการเป็นกลางทางคาร์บอน (Carbon Neutrality) ในปี ค.ศ. ๒๐๕๐ และปล่อยก๊าซเรือนกระจกสุทธิเป็นศูนย์ (Net Zero) ภายในปี ค.ศ. ๒๐๖๕ นอกจากนั้นเอกอัครราชทูตธานีฯ ได้แสดงความพร้อมที่จะส่งเสริมความร่วมมือและความเชื่อมโยงของระบบนิเวศสำหรับสตาร์ทอัพระหว่างไทยกับรัฐโคโลราโดอย่างรอบด้าน ในโอกาสนี้ ได้เชิญผู้ว่าการรัฐโคโลราโดนำคณะนักธุรกิจรัฐโคโลราโดเดินทางเยือนไทยเพื่อขยายโอกาสและความร่วมมือด้านการค้าและการลงทุนระหว่างไทยกับรัฐโคโลราโด อีกทั้งได้หยิบยกเรื่องการเปิดเที่ยวบินตรงระหว่างนครเดนเวอร์ ซึ่งเป็นศูนย์การคมนาคมที่สำคัญแห่งหนึ่งในภาคตะวันตกของสหรัฐฯ กับประเทศไทยด้วย
ในวันเดียวกัน เอกอัครราชทูตธานีฯ พร้อมคณะ ได้เข้าพบกับนาย Mike Johnston นายกเทศมนตรี โดยได้ขอรับการสนับสนุนการดำเนินธุรกิจของบริษัทไทย ตลอดจนขอบคุณที่ช่วยดูแลและสนับสนุนกิจกรรมและความเป็นอยู่ของชุมชนไทยในนคร
On 8 September 2023, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the U.S., together with his team and Mr. Chris Kalnin, Chief Executive Officer of BKV Corporation called on Mr. Jared Polis, Governor of Colorado, during his official visit to Denver to participate in the 2023 Thai Professional Conference in the U.S.
The Ambassador emphasized the importance of the state of Colorado as an investment hub for Thai investors, particularly in the energy sector. He expressed Thailand’s keen interest in working with Colorado to develop carbon capture technologies, which would support Thailand’s goals of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and net-zero GHG emissions by 2065. Moreover, the Ambassador expressed his readiness to enhance cooperation and connection between the startup ecosystems of the two countries. Ambassador Tanee extended an invitation to the Governor to lead a trade mission to Thailand to further advance the two sides’ economic relations. He raised the possibility of opening a direct flight between Denver and Thailand.
On the same day, the Ambassador also met with Mr. Mike Johnston, Mayor of Denver and took this opportunity to seek support in promoting Thai businesses and the welfare of the Thai community in Denver.
